"Shepherd's Piece" was the last song arranged and recorded. When the cellist was coming to the studio, I spent some time at the piano getting pieces ready and putting together "Psalm 23 (The Lord's my Shepherd)" and "His Sheep Am I" seemed like a good idea.
Not particularly inspired by any specific event, this track is one of my favorites on the album. I learned "His Sheep Am I" as a kid and "Psalm 23 (The Lord's My Shepherd)" is one of the newer songs I have enjoyed learning.
I think this arrangement lends itself to warmth, compassion, and snuggling in a soft blanket after a hard day. Even after listening to the drafts of the song so many times, I still find myself smiling when this track plays. I am grateful for the added tenderness of the cello.
I hope this track shares the same comfort with you.
