How do you play silence?
How do you create solitude in a musical piece?
When I picture where this song is being played, I think of being alone in a old church. White cracking interior paint. High ceilings where the music floats to the top before slipping out the windows.
Cleanse Me is a prayer between the reader and God. It starts "Search Me, O God" and ends "Cleanse me from every sin and set me free."
This arrangement desires to give space in the beginning - or solitude, then comes in with a bit more to say, and ends with the notes back where they were at the start - simple, prayerlike, and giving space for silence.
